Exploring the Art of Shibari at La Cueva del Gato Rojo

Pol

My journey in the world of Shibari began in 2016. Since then, I’ve become passionate about ropes, always staying in a continuous learning process. Throughout my path, I’ve been fortunate to train with and receive valuable advice from great masters and experts such as Zor Neurobashing, Javier Canitt, Jordi Lucena, Muganawa, Andrea Cuarta Corda, Pedro Cordas, among others. I’ve also taken part in gatherings and events where I had the opportunity to learn from prominent figures like Andy Buru, Ropunawa, Tori Bands, Tamandua, and Henrick.

La Cueva del Gato Rojo is a project born from a passion for ropes, with the goal of connecting and bringing people together through this practice.

Currently, we organize and participate in events, performances, training workshops, and offer private classes—always with the intention of continuing to share this fascinating discipline with more people.

My goal with La Cueva del Gato Rojo is to create spaces where people can begin their Shibari journey in a fun, safer way—full of beautiful, long-lasting connections.

Come join us and enrich your life with ropes.

I guide people into the world of Shibari in a way that is safe, sober, sensual, and consensual. My work focuses on embodied awareness, non-verbal communication, and responsive play. Whether it’s your first time exploring rope or you’re looking to deepen your connection with yourself or a partner, I offer an open, grounded space where curiosity and care take centre stage.

My own journey with Shibari began in an unexpected way—through a romantic relationship where I didn’t enjoy the practice at all! I now understand that Shibari isn’t simply about technique or aesthetics; it’s about how we relate to one another, how we listen, and how we communicate without words. The experience becomes meaningful when we feel safe, respected, and seen. That’s the space I aim to create for others.

Over the years, I’ve studied with Javi Cannit in Barcelona, Pedro Cordas in Lisbon, and Pol of La Cueva del Gato Rojo in Sevilla. I’ve also been deeply shaped by the community in Granada. These influences have helped me see that the magic of rope lies not in the knots themselves, but in how we share the moment. It’s not about having perfect ties—it’s about the energy exchanged, the presence shared, and the mutual trust that unfolds between people.

I’ve been modeling for over seven years, working with Walt Disney movies, London Life Drawing groups, international media teams, art schools, and clubs across the UK. This experience brings an artistic and embodied layer to my rope practice. I approach Shibari not just as a physical skill but as a creative and relational exploration—one that honors the whole person, not just the pose.

Alongside my rope journey, I am a qualified yoga teacher (200-hour Yoga Alliance, 2014), with studies in Mental Health, Sociology, and Artistic Life Coaching. These areas deeply inform how I teach and hold space. My background allows me to combine somatic practices such as yogic breathing, meditation, grounding, and intention setting, to support your emotional and physical safety during rope work.

Many people come to Shibari looking for something beyond the visual aesthetic—something more internal, more personal. That’s why my approach leans away from rigid technical instruction and toward spacious, abstract, and body-informed experiences. I encourage each person to find their own way of expressing with rope. There’s no right or wrong, no pressure to perform—just exploration, communication, and presence.

What I love to offer:

Personalised guidance in discovering your own rope style, free from pressure or judgment.
Partnered sessions designed to bring playfulness and tenderness into your shared practice.
Private experiences for couples looking to reignite intimacy and create meaningful connection.
Integration of yoga and somatic tools to support the nervous system and enhance body awareness.
Rope as a medium for trust-building, trauma release, and deeper relational understanding.

In our sessions and workshops, I encourage slowness. I invite you to notice—how you’re breathing, how you’re holding yourself, how you’re responding to another person. Through rope, we can enter a state of focused presence. It’s not about being tied perfectly or tying perfectly. It’s not even about the rope itself. What matters most is the mutual experience: the way two (or more) people navigate intention, care, boundaries, and delight together.

If you’re new to rope, you’re warmly welcome. No flexibility, prior experience, or partner is required. If you’ve tried Shibari before and didn’t enjoy it, I invite you to try again—with more awareness, better boundaries, and clearer communication. The difference that care makes is often profound.

Whether you’re joining for a day of movement and discovery or starting a longer journey with Shibari, I’m here to support your exploration with warmth, clarity, and respect.
